Where do tours start? 

Tours begin at Dock C near the covered tables next to the Welcome to Juneau sign and Juneau Visitors Center.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your tour departure time. This will help ensure that the tour departs on time and returns on time.

What will I need?

Juneau is located in the largest temperate rain forest in the world. We encourage you to always be prepared for rain and hope for the sun. If you dress for the weather you will always be prepared. We recommend active, quick dry clothing including comfortable walking shoes with good tread. 

On sunny days we recommend you bring the following if you have them: ball cap, sunglasses, sunscreen.

On rainy and/or cold days we recommend the following: rain jacket and rain pants if you have them, a warm layer, ball cap/beanie, gloves. 

Tours operate rain or shine. We'll provide rain ponchos. Don't forget your camera!

How fit do I need to be to participate?

Tours are designed for most fitness levels.  You should be able to comfortably walk 3 - 4 miles, with occasional breaks. If you have any questions, please contact us to discuss how we can make our tours perfect for you.

For example, our Ghosts and Gold Tour covers some hilly parts of town and stretches a little over four miles. We take breaks to share stories about the culture and history of the town as well as making time for restroom breaks if needed. If you get out to walk fairly regularly this should be a wonderful stroll through our beautiful town.

Are kids allowed?

All our tours are family friendly! There is no minimum age requirement.
Children 4 and under are FREE

What if I can’t make if off my cruise ship on time?

If you do feel you will be late, we will do our best to wait until your arrival. Please call (907) 364-4399 or email to notify us. We may call you as well to find out your current estimated time of arrival. When booking, use a cell phone number and email address that you will be reachable at while in Alaska.

We understand that not everyone will have a U.S. phone number and/or find it easier to communicate via email.  Please call or email us in advance so that we can schedule a tour that works with your cruise port time.

What if we run into a bear?

This is Alaska, the wilderness and city often blend together and bears roam freely throughout Juneau. Your safety is our top priority. All our guides carry bear spray and receive bear safety training which includes habits, body language, and behavior. If a bear is seen, your guide will direct you and the group as to how to proceed.

What's your payment and cancellation policy?

  • Payment in full at time of booking is required to guarantee a reservation.

  • 7 days: guaranteed refund (cancel 7 days prior to tour for a 100% refund)

  • Less than 7 days: 50% refund

  • Within 24 hours of tour: no refund

All cancellation requests received 7 days prior to your shore excursion date will be fully refunded for any reason. Cancellations received within 7 days of the tour date will receive a 50% refund. No refund is offered if cancelled less than 24 hours before the tour. To cancel a tour, please send us an email at Some exceptions exist such as extreme weather and delayed cruise ships. Because we operate in a rain forest, tours are not canceled due to rain or “bad weather”, so on rainy days ponchos will be provided for your comfort. Credit card refunds are processed within 15 days. Juneau Guided Tours reserves the right to cancel and fully refund the tour for any reason. If Juneau Guided Tours cancels the tour, you will receive the amount you paid: this is typically due to weather or safety concerns. You will receive a full refund if you miss the tour due to certain conditions outside of your control, such as if a cruise ship is late, or an unexpected medical condition of which we may require proof. We will make reasonable effort to accommodate your tour at another time, based on tour availability. Juneau Guided Tours is not liable for other costs such as travel, lodging or third party costs in the event of a cancellation. You are required to follow the refund policy of the third party reseller through which you purchased your tour.
