Our Guide application for the 2019 season is NOW OPEN! We can’t wait to hear from you!

As a walking tour guide you will be the first to greet our guests in downtown Juneau and will be with them for 2.5 – 3.5 hours. You should have a love of Juneau, Alaska, nature, storytelling and history. You will be sharing amazing facts of history and getting guests excited and engaged as you show them Juneau.

Juneau Guided Tours is owned and operated by The Alaska Club. Guides who prove themselves in the field can be recruited to take on additional roles and responsibilities such as Marketing, Sales and Customer Service. Our summer season is May 1 through September 20.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be presentable, friendly, engaging and enthusiastic at all time

  • Outline the tour with guests before beginning and manage the group and timeline, ensuring it begins and ends at scheduled times

  • Determine if any guests have physical restrictions that should be considered

  • Clearly and articulately provide information to guests in an engaging manner

  • Answer questions from guests

  • Knowledge of history about Alaska, Juneau, the gold rush, Tlingit and Haida, wildlife and flora and fauna

  • Know all safety and security protocols, should they be needed

The ideal candidate:

  • Is outgoing with a customer oriented personality

  • Is an engaging and entertaining story teller

  • Is able to walk 2-5 miles at about a 2 MPH pace on uneven terrain and up/down stairs

  • Has strong time management skills with the ability to work independently

  • Has a flexible schedule

Compensation: $12 - $14 per hour
